DANIEL PLATZMAN, COMPOSER

 

Drummer Daniel Platzman, a native of Atlanta, has played trumpet in a concert band, violin in a pit band, viola in an orchestra, bass in a Manhattan club, and lead roles in several school musicals. He has also toured as a guitarist/vocalist in a rock band, and participated in the prestigious Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program at the Kennedy Center, Washington D.C. He is currently the drummer for the Las Vegas-based rock band Imagine Dragons, with whom he shared the 2014 Grammy award for Best Rock Performance.

 

He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Film Scoring from the Berklee College of Music, where he studied with Hal Crook, Sheldon Mirowitz and Ian Froman (among others), played in the Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra (led by Greg Hopkins), the Urban Outreach Jazz Orchestra (led by Lin Biviano) and the Berklee Rainbow Big Band (led by Phil Wilson), and received the Vic Firth Award for Outstanding Musicianship as well as the Michael Rendish Award in Film Scoring.

PIOTR NOWOTNIK, MUSIC COMPOSER/SOUND ARTIST

Piotr composes music for film, theater and other media. He has a Master degree in music composition from Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia.

JONATHAN MANNESS, COMPOSER

 

Jonathan Manness, published composer, has written music for film, multimedia, and concert setting. Film and commercial credits include working with such filmmakers as Tim Leaton, Andy Fortenbacher, Ruth Du, Nick Douillard, Mauro Mueller, and Jessie Levandov. Performance venues of Manness’s music include the Perelman Theater at the Kimmel Center, Hersheypark, Chris’ Jazz Café, the Collective, New York University, and West Chester University. In April 2007, he was selected to have his first brass quintet work, Punxsutawney Fails to See His Shadow!, read by the American Brass Quintet.Manness graduated from New York University where he received his M.M. in Composition with a Concentration in Scoring for Film and Multimedia and studied with Deniz Hughes. He received his B.M. in Music Theory and Composition (summa cum laude) from West Chester University in West Chester, PA where he studied with Robert Maggio and Peter Paulsen. Manness has also worked with award-winning composer Richard Einhorn (Voices of Light).
